Trees for Troops

Trees for Troops is a project of the Christmas Spirit Foundation.

The Christmas Spirit Foundation is a charitable branch of the National Christmas Tree Association. The Christmas Spirit Foundation’s mission is to advance the spirit of Christmas year-round for kids, families and the environment.

Indiana has participated in the Trees for Troops program for the past five years and will be shipping out over 200 donated trees as part of the 2011 Trees for Troops project. FedEx Corporation partners with the Christmas Spirit Foundation to provide all the shipping for trees to be picked up from tree farms across the U.S. and delivered to military bases stateside and overseas. Approximately 17,000 trees will be donated and shipped throughout the U.S. this year.

This year Indiana will be sending trees to military bases in Bahrain and the Seabees off of Rota, Spain. Indiana will also supply trees to the Great Lakes Naval Station stateside. Tree farms all across Indiana will donate the trees to be shipped out from one state pickup point. The trees will be processed and shipped out on November 29th to be delivered to the various bases the first weekend of December. This is just one way Christmas tree farms give back to our community.
